    “The Power of Leadership”

This week we are featuring another new quest writer “intercultural consultant” Dr. Jason D. Patent.

Dr. Patent’s Thought’s grew to encompass not only “resources,” but also leadership: What does it take to be a culturally savvy leader?

If you’re a successful business person, chances are you spend a lot of time and energy thinking about resources: time, money, and goodwill. The efficient creation and allocation of these resources is a major factor in your sinking or swimming.

People don’t often think of “culture” in this regard. Yet cultural savvy – a commitment on the part of you and your personnel to understanding the mindset of your Chinese counterparts, partners and colleagues – can be a significant source of time, money and goodwill.

As with everything in your business, the success of your efforts to create cultural savvy in your organization depend on having the right leaders in place. Cultural savvy calls for a certain kind of leader. Tomorrow and the next day we’ll take a look at the makeup of the culturally savvy leader.
