    “The Power of Leadership”

I am still of the opinion that unless your company is at the critical stage of choosing between “do we pay our utility bills this month or renew our training contract”, that during an economic down-turn is not the time to cut back on marketing or training and development.

For those of you who might be wondering just what I do in real life, most of my time is spent as a professional advisor and mentor to senior management and boards of directors. Isn’t that what all of us balding, gray-haired, semi-retired corporate types do!

While each of our managing partners, Shawn in the USA and Sunny in China manage the majority of our actual training and development work, they each have their own uniqueness as well, that comes from their own business and life experiences.

In addition to his management development and training activities, Shawn is very focused on the mental and physical side of human capital development along with a focus on the balance between business and family. Sunny, in addition to her management development and training activities is very focused on the language and communication side of human capital development along with a strong focus for development as a serious career person and being a happy, fulfilled individual.

Now each of these areas along with many other areas of human capital development are important in their own right. But, how do you decide which is the most important at this time for your company and are you really getting the most out of your training dollars (ROI)?

Many training programs don’t yield the desired results. One reason is that they are usually launched without sufficient knowledge of where the gaps in employee skills exist.

If you have not identified where the gaps exist with your own employee’s skill development, let us know. We can help you and help you identify how and where to get the training you need most.

It is not a matter of should you cut back or should you increase your human capital development budget. It is a matter of, “Are we focusing on the right skills to begin with and are we getting our money’s work from what we are doing now?”
