    “The Power of Leadership”

From time to time you will have a problem land on your lap that you just cannot stand.  Could be a personnel problem, an accounting audit, some report for the government.  You may catch yourself moving this problem to the bottom of the pile on your desk over and over again.  Stop!  The best thing to do with a nuisance problem such as this is to get rid of it as quickly as possible.  It won’t get better with age and the longer you let such a thing hang around the more painful it becomes and the more reluctant you’ll be to deal with it.

If you have a problem employee; you know it, they know it, everybody else knows it  The less decisive you are in dealing with it, the more problems you’ll have later with others.  End it quick.

The audits and reports and other unfortunate parts of our work should be quickly lined up and systematically executed.

Same goes for a difficult client.  Just about every time I have ended a relationship with a difficult or high maintenance client, the space they occupied is quickly filled by better business.

My friend and sales mentor Dr. David Mutchler teaches that “nature abhors a vacuum,” nature will do just about anything to fill a vacuum as quickly as possible.  Clear your space of the old, dead, and rotting, and nature will surely quickly refill your space with fresh and new.  You’ll be amazed!

Great points on dealing with things we find distasteful. It is better to deal with them as much as possible on our terms rather than on the terms and agendas that others may set for us.
