    “The Power of Leadership”

So much talk about “positive thinking.”  But do people really understand what positive thinking is?

Many people study positive thinking and arrive at the conclusion that it is some sort of magical shield from the real world.  They seem to believe that if they just think positively, that bad things cannot happen to them.  If something bad does happen, they’ll say “you weren’t thinking positively.”  I really don’t think it works that way and I don’t think that is what is meant by the great gurus of success who have suggesting living life with positive expectancy.  Thinking positively cannot prevent you from running into obstacles from time to time.

My concern is that people who think positive thinking will keep them safe from harm wind up frustrated, discouraged, and possibly critics of positive thinking.  Being a positive thinker does not mean that you refuse to acknowledge the way things are. In fact success comes to those who understand and deal head on with “what is” not to those who wish for how things “ought to be.”

The true positive thinker acknowledges potential and existing negative circumstances and engineers a plan to overcome them and achieve positive results. This is referred to as “the positive power of negative preparation!”
