“The Power of Leadership”
I’ve been writing much lately about the simple challenges of even planning one day in advance, but wish to challenge you today to expand your thinking with Short-term, Medium-term, and Long-Term Thinking… you should be planning for and taking action on three fronts of time:
Short-term: Applies to the exact business you are in today, as it is today. What can you do to increase revenue, attract new clients, reengage with past clients, improve profits, solve problems with better management, increase productivity and employee performance.
But be thinking also of the Medium-term: what will business be like in two-three-four years from now? What changes are happening? What trends are present in my industry, my community, other markets? Who must I keep pace with for success tomorrow? Where could I truly innovate?
At the same time, some time should be devoted to Long-term thinking: What investment am I making in long-term plays which may not yield benefit for years? This thinking should include topics of education, work/life harmony, succession planning, 10 plus year goals.
“What plans would you have on the drawing board if you knew you could not fail?” – Robert Schuller
Have a great day!
