    “The Power of Leadership”

So you’ve just read about ‘Trade-Off’ in the last couple of ‘Thoughts’…  or you’ve just read some other good book, or attended a seminar, or listened to a podcast, or whatever it is you do to fill your head with new ideas.  Let me first say, congratulations!  You’re already ahead of most by making investments in new knowledge, as Zig Zigler say’s, you’re “priming the pump.”

Now I’m going to challenge you!

David Sandler said, “You can’t really learn to ride a bicycle in a classroom seminar.”  All the studying and acquisition of new knowledge by many people is essentially wasted time and energy because of a lack of action.  Dan Kennedy says, “All the study and acquired knowledge in the world is no substitute for doing something.”

With yesterday’s quote, “Motion beats meditation,” Gary was alluding to getting started and just taking some action in a positive direction.  Success is often a mess of simultaneous massive action, usually in a zigzag pattern and generally accompanied by several bloody noses and lots of fumbling around, but always including lots of massive action!  If there were a clear and sequential process for easy achievement of goals, would not everyone be doing so?  Take some good idea from what you’ve read here or elsewhere and start doing something with it.

I often quote Dan Kennedy and here I have to paraphrase, but I recently heard him talking about this general idea and was inspired by this thought.  When home at dinner time, how often do you go to the refrigerator with a clear plan of what you will have for dinner?  Most people haven’t a clue.  You just have a look at what you’ve got to work with, start getting things out and putting this things together,  you’ll probably have to adjust along the way based on what you have or don’t have or do or don’t know how to cook, and somehow you wind up with dinner and a full belly!  You do this successfully almost every day.

Take a look at what you’ve got to work with, make a little plan, and get busy doing!

“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” – Thomas Jefferson

Have a great day of doing!
