I once had a Football Coach that I really enjoyed playing for and he always got the best from me. I recall early in our relationship being dragged by my jersey, unwillingly, to a new position on the field (different than the role I had selected for myself). It was explained on the way that I would be more valuable to the team in this new role.

You must have a firm resolve and be determined and consistent in your Leadership on this, because this is not “normal” and you will get push back on these changes to your Marketing. You must keep in mind that “normal” produces normal and it is your job to lead the company to expanded margins and a dominant market position, not be “normal.”
