    “The Power of Leadership”

A few weeks ago, you read about Affirmations to support achievement of your Goals, this week we learn about Visualization…

A dilemma you may encounter in the process of using affirmations as a tool for self development is difficulty in accepting an affirmation as a statement of reality when it is not in fact, yet, true.  The art of visualization allows you to move from dreams into reality.  A large percentage of people’s thought patterns are image based.  Even a simple thought calls forth an image.  Someone says tree and you “see” a tree, but a more abstract concept can really be a challenge to visualize, i.e. justice.  If you are unable to form a mental picture you may be confused and fail to understand.

If you hear the word “automobile,” you will quickly picture one; but your picture is likely hazy.  If you are then asked to describe the automobile you pictured, you will refocus your mental image and bring forth details you did not originally have because you did not know what to expect.  When you have focused your mental image, you can clearly describe the car, probably your own car.  That is the way most of us respond to events in life.  Visualization is restricted to what we already know.  We can only see the familiar or commonplace.  We forget that we are free to use our imagination, which is the spice that adds meaning and excitement to visualization.

Visualization is used to best advantage when used in its highest form, that of relating the present to the future.  When you can, through visualization, relate the “what is” to the “what can be”, you have developed the art of visualization, a powerful tool!  Use the art of visualization to reinforce positive affirmations and set your imagination free.  You can create anything you can conceive.  You can learn through the process of visualization to move the future into the present and greatly expand your experience.  You are prepared for tomorrow, because you have already experienced it and are familiar with the sights, sounds, and feelings.  You have already “seen” it through your visualization.
