“The Power of Leadership”
Today, Shawn Miller is back to talk more about nutrition and the effect of food on your performance.

Yesterday we made it clear that YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, improve performance via French Fries, I don’t think so! Today we learn that you also ARE WHEN YOU EAT.
Many people today are inconsistent about when they eat and give little thought to planning what they will be eating during the day. This commonly leads to skipped meals or quick substitutes for real, quality food. This disrupts blood sugar balance and will lead to poor physical and mental performance, mood swings, and food cravings which often lead to overeating later in the day.
Skipping breakfast is very common today and there is no question that skipping breakfast slows your metabolism for the entire day. This means that not only will you burn fewer calories during the day; you won’t be performing at your best and you will likely have cravings later in the day which if acted upon with your slowed metabolism will end up as stored fat on your body. Women are especially susceptible to storing excess body fat as a result of skipping meals.
I cannot stress enough the importance of eating a breakfast consisting of high quality protein, omega-3 fats and unprocessed carbohydrates every day to keep your mental acuity sharp and your metabolism running strong. Additionally, you should be eating at least three times per day and ideally every 3 – 3 1/2 hours throughout the day.
